Batteries contain hazardous heavy metals and other compounds that can cause harm to the environment if not recycled properly.

Universal Wastes are widely generated hazardous wastes, such as batteries, fluorescent bulbs, and other devices containing mercury. The federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has reduced the regulatory requirements to encourage proper treatment and recycling, therefore, allowing these wastes to be managed as Universal Wastes instead of Hazardous Wastes. The Universal Waste Rule, 40 CFR Part 237, allows states to modify the rule and add additional universal wastes, e.g., dental amalgam waste and pharmaceuticals, to their individual state regulations.

This product is for businesses that manage their own battery replacement and recycling initiatives. The batteries placed in the container will be managed at an authorized facility capable of recycling the materials. Please do not include any lead acid, wet cell, or large lithium batteries into any dry cell recycling container.
The complete package will be sent via courier to your location. Remove the outer packaging, open the resealable plastic container, and carefully place the batteries into the container. Battery short circuits can cause batteries to overheat and possibly result in a fire.
Batteries must be packaged to prevent short circuits. Acceptable methods for preventing short circuits include taping all terminals and wire leads, wrapping individual batteries in plastic, or placing individual batteries into plastic bags. This should be done in a manner that does not hinder battery identification (i.e., using ONLY clear tape).
When the pail is full, seal and follow instructions to contact FedEx Ground for a pickup of the package.
